The Mir is a cheap product of the former Roboenergomash, later rebranded as Poligon. Capitalizing on Sovietism, the company renamed products after nostalgia for the USSR space program. It worked, even for mundane things, like sentry turrets.

The only distinguishing thing about the Mir is Iskra’s cost-cutting genius. Factories and warehouses have kilometers of rail, leftovers of the old way of handling shipping and production? Don’t dismantle them, just strap a turret to the rusty rails and ensure omnipresence and overwhelming firepower in your facilities.
