The Tarball Launcher, also known as the Grenade Launcher or Tarball HRGL in the Codex, is Engineer's secondary weapon. It's a grenade launcher with sticky grenades that can be detonated remotely. Like all Secondary Weapons, it has limited ammo, and cannot be reloaded.

The Tarball Launcher's explosion also gives knockback, and unlike the Rocket Launcher or Sawed Off Shotgun, it's the explosion itself that gives the knockback. This lets the player shoot down and detonate immediately to gain momentum mid-air.

Being a secondary weapon, both the base weapon and the Weapon Mods can be leveled up, improving set stats a varying amount depending on the level, up to level 10. There are also rare and legendary variants of each Tarball Launcher & Tarball Launcher mod, each with a unique effect, and the legendary variant gives both the rare and legendary effect for that weapon.

The Rare Effect does not retain the damage bonus after a bounce once it sticks to an enemy.

Note that the effects of rarity modifiers are not reflected in the stats section, only the rarity modifiers section.

Fire Ant Rounds

Capable of shooting Piercing metal rods that Lodge themselves into surfaces. Activate to Recall all rods, returning the projectiles to the player with the same speed & damage.

After 10 seconds, the lodged projectiles can no longer be recalled.

Recalled projectiles cannot hit Weakpoints.

The projectile spread on the Legendary Modifier is 7.5 degrees, and effectively triples damage if all projectiles hit.

Stormblight Cascade

Equipped with Lightning Rods that does not deal any damage on impact, but ShocksT UI Icon Elemental Shock.png enemies upon Activation, forming Arcs that deal ElectricT UI Icon Elemental Shock.png damage with Each Consecutive Link.

Damage increases by 200 Per Enemy Linked before activation.

Detonating a single rod causes an AoE shock with a slightly larger radius than the ElectricT UI Icon Elemental Shock.png links

Rapid-Fire ToxicT UI Icon Elemental Toxic.png capsules, on Activation, the capsules release a Swarm that deals ToxicT UI Icon Elemental Toxic.png damage to nearby enemies.

The Legendary Effect effectively increases damage by 37.5%.
